Open Letter to Prospective PTEX Enrollees:

PTEX is excited about devoting its eleven years of experience preparing examinees for the Maryland Essay Examination (“MEE”) to help you prepare them for the newest addition to the Maryland Bar—the Maryland Performance Test (”MPT”). The PTEX 3-Day Writing Bar Bootcamp provides instruction on the MPT in addition to essay writing instruction in the more daunting testable subjects (i.e., Civil Procedure, Family Law, Business Associations, Professional Responsibility, Secured Transactions, Sales, Banking Transactions, Commercial Transactions and Leases). The PTEX Bootcamp provides a one-day MPT Prep focused on teaching examinees to extract relevant facts and law from the library case file provided and to apply controlling doctrine to the facts at issue in a well organized and analytically sound motion or memorandum. The PTEX Bootcamp also features a one-day UCC Workshop which covers the most challenging essay questions offered in the UCC subjects from the past 20 years. You can opt to take just the one-day MPT course, the one-day UCC Workshop or take the full course and take advantage of the full menu of essay writing practice and instruction. In addition to the PTEX Bar Bootcamp, PTEX offers the PTEX Home Study Program, which includes Volume I and II of PTEX Drills, the PTEX Attack Strategy Outlines, 1 PTEX Diagnostic Exam (complete with model responses for each question) and the PTEX Schedule for Success, for the February 2008 Bar. PTEX 3-Day Bar Writing Bootcamp (see price list below) The PTEX Bar Exam Writing Workshop is an intensive 3-day bar prep boot camp focusing on the mastery of the PTEX Technique for writing well-reasoned, well-organized, comprehensive responses to Bar Exam essay questions and the skills necessary for enhanced performance on the Multistate Performance Test. A highlight of the Bootcamp is the one-day MPT Prep, which focuses on teaching examinees to extract relevant facts and law from the case file provided and to apply controlling doctrine to the facts at issue in a well organized and analytically sound motion or memorandum. Unlike other prep courses it provides step-by-step instruction as to how to use the library file and how to organize well-reasoned, responsive written responses to the assigned task. The UCC Workshop, which takes place on the 3 rd day of the PTEX Bootcamp covers all of the Uniform Commercial Code Subjects (Secured Transactions, Sales, Banking Transactions, Commercial Transactions and Leases). Bootcamp enrollees will take 15 past Maryland Essay Exam questions, two MPT questions, and receive live Instructor review of all in-class exercises using Microsoft PowerPoint. Those sitting for the Bar in jurisdictions other than Maryland where the MPT is also tested can opt to take just the one-day MPT course or take the full course and take advantage of the essay writing practice and instruction.

 Volume I, II and III of the PTEX Drills ($425) : These user-friendly workbooks contain over 100 individual essay questions taken from past Maryland Essay Exams. Each essay is accompanied by the corresponding Board Analysis Answer (written by the authors of the Maryland Bar Exam) and the Student Representative Answers (selected by the authors of the Maryland Bar). It is organized by testable subject and is updated twice a year to include essay questions testing the issues most likely to appear on the upcoming Bar Exam.

PTEX Attack Strategy Outlines ($475) : This examinee-favorite is a compilation of substantive law outlines that cover all of the subjects tested on the Maryland Bar Examination. They provide substantive Maryland law formatted to facilitate issue spotting. The outlines also include the most commonly tested provisions of statutory based subjects that correspond to the statutory extracts that you will be provided on the actual Maryland Essay Exam. These easy-to-read / easy-to-memorize outlines will greatly enhance your exam preparation.

PTEX Examination Diagnostic Exam ($50) : Each diagnostic exam is comprised of actual past Maryland Essay Examination questions and actual past Multistate Performance Test questions compiled to reflect what is likely to be tested on the upcoming Bar. The PTEX Diagnostic Examination is a test composed of ten 25 minute Maryland Essay Exam questions and one 90 minute MPT question exam and is an effective learning tool, which affords examinees the much needed opportunity to take an entire exam that is formatted like the actual Maryland Essay Exam, under timed conditions, while simultaneously exposing them to the substantive issues and subjects that are predicted to be tested on the upcoming Maryland Bar.

PTEX Schedule for Success ($25) : This day-by-day calendar, for use with the PTEX Workbooks and Attack Strategy Outlines, helps examinees to organize their time and take a measured approach to preparing for the Maryland Bar Exam. It directs examinees to the specific essay questions that they should take every day and provides specific time allocations for both the Maryland Essay Exam and the Multistate Examination preparation exercises. It eliminates the guess work that many examinees encounter as a challenge to adequate preparation, and allows examinees to track their performance over an eight week period for each testable subject.

PTEX Home Study Course Program ($750) : This course materials package is identical to that offered to PTEX 7 Week enrollees. It tracks a 7 Week curriculum and affords examinees the flexibility and convenience of excellent preparation at their own pace. The package includes both volumes of the PTEX Drills Workbooks, the PTEX Attack Strategy Outlines, 2 PTEX Diagnostic Exams, the PTEX Schedule for Success and a user’s guide that provides step-by-step instruction as to the most effective use of the PTEX course materials.
